Webdesign

You need a website and there is no doubt about it.  But do you really need to spend a huge sum for it?  Some people can afford and they do it.  But it is not really necessary.  Website development and hosting are not as difficult a job as some might think.  There are thousands of solutions on the net itself.  Some artistic insight and a lot of patience are all you need to get a professional look for your website.  There are some technical aspects too if you want to optimize your site so that the search engines see it.

At a very low cost you can have your site up and running. You can have the following features
  • HTML- all the different versions and flavours
  • php scripts
  • cgi/pearl scripts
  • java scripts
  • contact forms (SMTP supported hosting plan may be necessary)
  • email forms of all kinds
  • guestbooks
  • mailing lists
  • newsletters
  • scrolling items (vertical and horizontal)
  • css
  • MySQL database programming (for online form submissions etc)
  • ftp management
  • mail configuration
  • content writing, editing, and weekly updation
  • image management, photoshop reworks and editing
These features are dependent on the hosting server, and a suitable hosting plan may have to be selected.

If you require a site with shopping cart and credit card processing, kindly search elsewhere for service.

This service will be suitable for
  • Personal websites
  • Educational Institutions
  • Small Businesses
  • Shops
  • Libraris
  • Hospitals
  • Religious institutions
  • Sites set up for information purpose
  • Clubs and organisations
  • Trusts and Associations
  • Non profit organisations
  • Organisations doing charity work (reduced rates apply)
How are such low rates possible?
By using open source and copy left softwares and resources and also by not aiming at profit making.  If you have no problem with advertisement supported free services, rates can be further reduced.

What is this designer's idea of a good simple site?
One with no scripts, no flash, no frames, no unnecessary animations.
All these features can be turned off on the browser and people must have already done that.  Then what is the point in greeting people with blank or non funtional pages?

When their browser tells them that the content cannot be viewed with their software and configurations,  will they take pains to change configureations and download plugins or go elsewhere?  What would you do?

There is no point in stuffing your site with a huge number of pages.  Normally a visiter will not go beyond 4 or 5 pages

There is no point in filling a page with a lot of content.  People will not simply read it. Unless your page is aimed at a specific audience (Example, this page.  If you are reading up to these lines, it means you belong to the targeted audience.)

What is the point in greeting your visitor with a long flash movie?  How many times have you disgustingly clicked 'skilp intro' while visiting a site designed thoughtlessly?

Why was google a hit in the first place?  At a time when search engine home pages were stuffed with junk google came up with a neat and to the point approach.  It clicked!

So while designing a site don't think how you can make it complicated... Instead, think how you can make it simple

What is more important is to keep the site updated regularly.  Out dated information on your pages will be a great deterrent and can damage your credibility irreparably.

Help is provided regularly to update the content seamlessly.
Content creation and Editing is also on offer.
